If you are a Hanuman devotee , watching the new movie Hanuman Ansh is a must! Cherry on the cake are the nice songs and hearing Krishna Das’ songs Om Namah Shivaya and Sita Ram.
Yesterday was the first time I have watched a movie alone at the cinema theatre and I thoroughly enjoyed it! A quiet day enjoying my own company.
Hanuman is also known as the monkey god and his tales are narrated in the Ramayana. Hanuman helped Lord Rama search for Sita Maa when she was abducted. He is also known to be an avatar of Lord Shiva.
My personal story with Hanuman started in 2004. My mum had a stroke when she was just 41 years old, and we were going through some difficult times. My mum’s elder sister told my mum to read the Hanuman Chalisa; a devotional hymn praising Lord Hanuman. I started reading it too and gradually fell in love with the writing and Hanuman. I also listened to the Hanuman Chalisa songs and it has now become an everyday ritual ( Krishna Das sings a beautiful rendition of the Hanuman Chalisa).
I was in Sydney (Australia) in 2009 and did not visit any temple for one year. I listened to Hanuman Chalisa nearly everyday. I felt Hanuman’s grace several times. It is a quiet reminder to keep going, have faith and trust the unknown.
In 2014, I visited Batu Caves in Malaysia with the huge Hanuman statue, and that is one of my favourite photos to keep on my phone. A majestic green Hanuman.
My family and friends know how much I love Hanuman. It is not about knowing the scriptures but just pure love felt from the heart.
This year, I visited the Hanuman temple at Grand Bassin for my birthday. I smiled when I saw Hanuman’s dhoti was the same colour as my pants🤣.
Hanuman Ansh movie is a must watch for any Shiva and Hanuman bhakt (devotee).
