Yoga and Music day

Today 21st June is International yoga day and World music day. Two things that I love and which form part of my everyday routine.

Years ago, I had been practising yoga on and off either by joining random yoga classes or watching YouTube videos. In 2019, I followed the Inner Engineering program by Isha Foundation and discovered other ways of doing  yoga which turned me into an undercover yogi.

At Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore. Grace of yoga program in 2026

Seven years later, I am still practising Kriya yoga and Hatha yoga. The Inner Engineering program teaches a Kriya Yoga practice called Shambhavi Mahamudra which combines postures, breathing and meditation.

In 2020, I also learned Hatha yoga from a certified teacher from Isha Hatha school of yoga. Hatha yoga teaches different postures, which we call ‘asanas’. I had been practising it diligently for about one year until 2021 and then less often when my work schedule changed and made it challenging to keep up with my practices.

Last month, I have been to a “Yogasanas” revision class and practising it daily since. The effect on my breathing, flexibility and physical body can already be felt after this one month.

I would highly recommend yoga to everyone. Simple practices or just breathing techniques that will work wonders on your physical body and general wellbeing.

And yes… Music day!

My dear ‘Sounds of Isha’, you make me go through my day with joy, sometimes singing and sometimes dancing; from yoga and meditation music to full blown rocking music. The best part is that now I get to enjoy Sounds of Isha songs with my one year old niece.

We both have a favourite song “ Dam da dam” which I watched live when I attended the Mahashivatree festival at Isha Yoga centre in Coimbatore. That song will stay in my heart forever. Listening to the song live and watching Sadhguru walk by. That “ one moment” that makes your heart soar high.

Thank you Sadhguru for creating these tools for my wellbeing and that of thousands of people.

Happy Yoga Day and Music Day!
